Oaken Grove Surfers

We have been running for eight years at Oaken Grove Community Centre as part of Haxby and Wigginton Youth and Community Association.  We aim to help any adult in Haxby and Wigginton to become computer literate.  Mostly our work has been with older people but we have no age limits.  There are two sessions a week in school term time, on Monday mornings and

Thursday afternoons.  Each learner has 30 minutes per week one to one support (no group teaching)  to help them complete online courses on the Learn My Way website.  They can stay for as long as they need to to become confident.

Because we are a registered charity we ask, please, for a weekly donation of £2.50.

We would also like some more mentors to sit alongside our learnersto help them and encourage them.  All they need are reasonable computer skills, a willingness to share them and two hours free time a week.  Alternatively , they could cover for mentors when they are ill or on holiday.

If people are interested, please phone: York 769176
