York City Knights are delighted to announce the signing of Olivia Wood. The 19-year-old is the first player to be named as part of the club’s #SuperSeven announcement.

Following a successful spell with Bradford Bulls, Wood will be continuing to develop her career at York.
As one of the brightest young talents in the women’s game, York are delighted to have the youngster as part of the squad.

Wood previously played for Huddersfield St. Joseph’s and enjoyed a spell with Huddersfield Giants before moving to the Bradford Bulls.

Speaking about her signing, Wood said: “It’s really good, I’m really excited to seeing how it’s going to go. I’m really impressed by the training facilities here at York St John Sports Park – it looks very good, very smart.”

York City Knights coach, Daryl North said: “I am very excited to welcome Olivia Wood to the Knights family. She is a very exciting young player who will be a great addition to our squad.

“We hope that she can continue to develop and we are excited about her future. At York, we will be able to give her all the necessary tools to go to that next level and I’m sure all the supporters are going to enjoy watching her as the season goes on.”

Olivia will be sponsored this season by AW Building Projects.

Wood could be in line to make her Knights debut on Sunday against Wigan Warriors, a match shown LIVE on The Sportsman’s Youtube channel.

The Betfred Women’s Challenge Cup Round Two tie will kick off at 12 noon and, with our men’s team facing Featherstone the same evening, Sunday is a great chance for York fans to enjoy a feast of rugby league action!
