The York Fun Fair Fun Park returned to the City this past weekend at the Roko Health Club next to Clifton Moor Retail Park and is now open through until Sunday 20th September with over 20 rides and attractions.

Due to the current pandemic and the new announcement regarding the rule of 6 organisers are stressing to guests that 6 will be the maximum allowed into the fun park at any one time and these must be from the same family unit or bubble. The rule will also apply inside the fun park and any guests congregating in groups of more than 6 will be politely asked to disperse. These are not the only measures at the annual event in place though to keep guests safe and as well as reducing capacity other measures include sanitiser stations at the main entrance and on all individual rides, temperature screening on entry, regular cleaning of attractions and there will be a one-way system in operation. Guests will also be required to scan the track and trace barcode on entry or write their details in a book for each session.

Organisers are also asking that people do not attend this event if they have any of the associated symptoms of COVID-19 such as a recent onset of a new continuous cough or a high temperature (over 38°C) or a loss of, or change in, normal sense of taste or smell (anosmia).

“The new measures came in on Monday and we were ready,” says George Rowland Tucker one of the organisers, “we have put every measure in place that is required under Government guidelines to reduce the spread of COVID-19 plus all the rides and attractions once inside the fun park are all treated with a disinfectant fog on a regular basis. We have extra signage in place now making it clear what the new rules and are like the rest of the hospitality sector we have been given permission to open providing we do our job right and we believe we have gone much further!”

Last weekend saw over a hundred families of NHS staff given a free session and this will be repeated this Saturday (19th September) from 9am until 11am. All they must do is come along and show their pass. This will be the 3rd time we have done this and we want to show our appreciation to all these fantastic people and their families as a thank you for their valued hard work from our families at GR Tuckers Funfairs to theirs”

Staff do not need to book at the event, it is for anyone as long as they show their NHS identification they just need to turn up which will allow them and one guest free admission before the fair opens for the public later in the morning.

Families will love the brand-new Dodgems, the G Force or the Waltzer while the Sizzler Twist always proves popular with the families. There will also be a kids Roller Coaster, two Fun Houses, the Cliffhanger and an amazing selection of children’s rides. Food and games and Bungee Trampolines are payable once inside the security-controlled site so mum and dad can always enjoy a coffee while the kids are enjoying the rides. There is even a kid’s play area within the park featuring some giant games, a sand pit with giant deckchairs and on Saturday’s there will be Superhero characters on hand to entertain the kids.Saturday and Sunday there will be 3 sessions from 12 noon–2.30pm, 3-5.30pm and 6-8.30pm, while weekdays there will be 2 sessions from 4-6,30pm and 6.30-9pm.  Wristbands are on sale for a one-off charge of £6.99 Height restrictions apply on some attractions while non riding adults accompanying children who are sampling the attractions pay just £2.00.
