Appeal following assault near York

North Yorkshire Police is appealing for witnesses and information following an assault that occurred in the Foxwood area.

The incident occurred on a grass area at the bottom of Slessor Road near to an alley way which leads onto Otterwood Lane.

It occurred at approximately 10pm on Thursday 09th February 2023 and involved a 15-year-old boy who was walking home.

 He was followed by another person who is believed to be a man who subsequently assaulted him on the grass area. The 15-year-old boy was punched several times in the face and was tackled to the ground. He then eventually managed to flee and returned to his home address.

As a result of the assault the teenager suffered a cut and bruising to his right eye.

The suspect is described as a white man in his 40s, approximately 5ft 6/7 in height and medium build. He had short dark brown hair which was swept over, slight stubble and spoke with a Yorkshire accent. He was wearing glasses, dark coloured jeans and a green fitted bomber style jacket.

Police are now requesting the public’s assistance to help establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

In particular, officers are appealing for information about anyone who may have seen the incident or who can assist them with identifying the suspect.
