There are just two days left for people to contribute to the public consultation on the proposed plans for York and North Yorkshire devolution.
The consultation closes on 16 December, after which, the responses from the public, businesses and stakeholders will be compiled and analysed.
A proposed York and North Yorkshire devolution deal was announced on Monday 1 August 2022.
Under the deal, York and the North Yorkshire region will gain local control of funding to spend on the things that matter to our communities.
This will include £540 million of new government investment to spend on local priorities to produce growth, together with a range of devolved powers.
And a joint meeting of City of York Council and North Yorkshire County Council has taken place last week to discuss the ongoing devolution process. The Joint Committee discussed the initial development of a potential York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority and ensure the process is in accordance with central government guidelines.
Leader of City of York Council Cllr Keith Aspden said:
“I would like to invite residents and businesses who have not yet done so, to share their views on the full range of devolution proposals.
“Devolution presents an opportunity for York and the region to secure new funding and investment to both boost our local economy and support our communities now and in the long term, from tackling climate change to building more affordable homes.
“Taking part in the consultation is quick and easy via our online survey, so please do make your voice heard share your views with us.”
