Join Tommy Treebark’s Wild Adventure: Spot 50 Yorkshire creatures across York city centre this Summer!

The York BID

York BID is excited to launch Tommy Treebark’s Wild Adventure - a free, fun-filled trail that invites families to explore the city centre of York and spot 50 wild Yorkshire animals decorating special benches across the city.

Running from 25th April to 14th September 2025, the trail turns the summer seating benches across 10 different areas of York into a city centre adventure. 50 of the 56 benches will be brought to life with a different bright, cheerful artwork featuring York’s wild animals - perfect for curious kids and families to discover as they wander through the city.

Pick up a trail leaflet from the Visit York Information Centre and help Tommy Treebark to track down each wild creature. Return your completed sheet to the Visit York Information Centre to claim a FREE prize - choose between a cuddly toy, an exclusive Tommy Treebark badge, or a minibeast magnifier!

Carl Alsop, Operations Manager at York BID, said: “This trail is a celebration of York’s creativity, outdoor spaces, and family-friendly atmosphere. It’s designed to be easy, fun and completely free - making it a great way to get kids exploring the city with fresh eyes.”

Ideal for children aged 3 to 12, Tommy Treebark’s Wild Adventure is the perfect free activity for weekends, school holidays, or city days out.

Emily J Starling, also known as Selkie Ray, the artist behind the trail’s animal designs, added: “Each animal has its own personality and is inspired by Yorkshire’s amazing wildlife. I loved creating artwork that brings a little wonder to everyday spaces and hopefully makes families smile as they spot them.”

York BID hopes the trail will encourage families to enjoy York’s summer seating and explore new areas of the city, building on its key missions to enhance the city centre environment, and ensuring it is a welcoming place to visit.

Trail dates: 25th April – 14th September 2025
