Volunteers involved in mental health service delivery and support will gather at an event in the Mansion House to mark World Mental Health Day on Tuesday 10 October at 6 p.m.
The early evening reception is the inspiration of the Lady Mayoress, Joy Cullwick who, together with the Lord Mayor of York, the Rev. Cllr. Chris Cullwick, has invited representatives of as many organisations as possible in order to say thank you, and to showcase the great work being done in the city of York.
This year’s World Mental Health Day theme is 'celebrating the power of community kindness'.
Guests will be welcomed by the Lady Mayoress, Joy Cullwick and will also hear from City of York Council’s Head of Communities, Joe Micheli.
The event will be an opportunity to hear from a range of volunteers and provides an opportunity for volunteers to meet each other and network.
Joy Cullwick, Lady Mayoress, said:
"The contribution of volunteers to the mental health and wellbeing of the people of York is incredible and invaluable and touches all sectors of our city. The dedication and kindness is something that we in the Civic Party want to recognise and celebrate.
"We’re absolutely delighted that we will also be joined by Johanna Ropner, Lord Lieutenant of North Yorkshire.”
