Speaking about his appointment Scott said: “I am very excited to join the North Yorkshire team at a tough time for policing, partners and the public and looking forward to working in a place where I have deep personal roots.

“I have been impressed by the commitment of the officers, staff and volunteers I have already met in North Yorkshire Police who have a clear commitment to serve the public and make a positive difference to peoples’ lives.

“I am privileged to have the chance to lead, support and learn from my new colleagues in keeping the communities of North Yorkshire safe.”
