North Yorkshire Police welcomes a new Assistant Chief Constable to the force today.

ACC Scott Bisset joins North Yorkshire Police after serving 28 years with West Yorkshire Police where he developed a wide operational experience in a variety of uniform and detective roles.

Scott has served in front line uniformed operational roles at all ranks including response, Armed Policing, Neighbourhood Policing and as a detective in both Bradford and Leeds.

In 2014, Scott led a force-wide review for West Yorkshire Police to improve the response to calls from the public, crime investigation, problem solving, early intervention and prevention in partnership with local authorities, charitable organisations and the business community.

In 2016, he was appointed as the Chief Superintendent for Bradford District and enjoyed building strong relationships with organisations and the public to keep people safe. He has significant experience of leading the response to serious and critical incidents and working with diverse communities.

Scott was promoted to Assistant Chief Constable in 2020 and appointed to lead the National Police Air Service – providing air support to Police Forces across England and Wales.

He is an experienced Strategic Firearms and Gold Public Order Commander.
Scott will be responsible for Local Policing.

Currently living in Craven, and having grown up near York, Scott has been a resident of North Yorkshire for over 40 years.

Scott is married with two teenage sons.

Speaking about his appointment Scott said: “I am very excited to join the North Yorkshire team at a tough time for policing, partners and the public and looking forward to working in a place where I have deep personal roots.

“I have been impressed by the commitment of the officers, staff and volunteers I have already met in North Yorkshire Police who have a clear commitment to serve the public and make a positive difference to peoples’ lives.

“I am privileged to have the chance to lead, support and learn from my new colleagues in keeping the communities of North Yorkshire safe.”
