Police received a report at 6.20pm on Wednesday 22 March of a suspect package inside a van parked near to the Aviva building at Wellington Row.
Officers attended and as a precaution Lendal Bridge was closed, a cordon was put in place and nearby businesses evacuated.
On closer inspection, everything was found to be in order with the package and officers were satisfied that no threat was present.
The cordon was lifted and bridge reopened at 7pm.

Christmas and New Year opening hours
Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day all fall on weekdays this year. This means that Wednesday 25 December 2024, Thursday 26 December 2024 and Wednesday 1 January 2025 will all be public holidays for Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day respectively.
