Waste and recycling collection dates in York will be changing over the Christmas and New Year period.
On average, City of York Council collects waste and recycling from around 18,000 households every day. Crews carry out around six million waste collections every year and is proud to be the only frontline service in the council which visits every single home in the city.

The majority of collections in York, for both household waste and recycling will take place the day after their normal collection date.
However, to enable crews to take leave over the holiday season, there will be changes to some collection dates, as there will be staff shortages.
To minimise disruption as much as possible, crews will be working Saturdays to ensure household waste, for all 96,000 properties in York, continues over this period.
The most significant changes are collections due on Christmas Day (Monday 25 December), which will be collected two days before on Saturday 23 December.
The last recycling collection for these households will be Monday 11 December (before Christmas) and then Monday 8 January (after Christmas).
Household waste for households due on Friday 29 December will take place the day after, but their last recycling collection for these households will be Friday 15 December (before Christmas) and Friday 12 January (after Christmas).
Household waste for households due on Friday 5 January will take place the day after, but their last recycling collection for these households will be Friday 22 December (before Christmas) and Friday 19 January (after Christmas).
Recycling for around 2,000 hard to reach households in the city centre are collected by St Nicks, and these households are urged to check their website for any date changes: https://www.stnicks.org.uk
