Restaurant opens at 4pm today, a few days ahead of schedule.
The team behind the hugely popular, Southern style restaurant, Hickory’s Smokehouse are now ready to swing open the doors at their impressive new restaurant in Skelton on the outskirts of York. Excitement has been building this week as the team have welcomed guests to their community focused training & practice nights.
The team have announced that, now all the final snagging is complete, they will be opening the doors today, Friday 21stFebruary from 4pm, a few days ahead of schedule!
The Chester based company opened their first Hickory’s in Chester over 15 years ago and have restaurants across the North-West, East and West Midlands and closer to home, in Horbury, Leeds and Huddersfield.
Hickory’s General Manager Jason Tobin said: ‘The team are absolutely raring to go! We’ve had such a brilliant week, welcoming some of the local community to our practice evenings, and we are super-excited to be swinging open the doors officially, a few days ahead of schedule.’
So far, guests seem to have been blown-away with the team’s authentic take on Southern hospitality, and social media has been awash with positive comments and feedback from guests who were lucky enough to attend the practice evenings.
The children’s cinema room, Fro-Co (frozen custard station), and outdoor play area have all been big hits with younger guests while the ‘grown-ups’ have been raving about the cool new neighbourhood bar area, cosy booth seating and outdoor dining huts, nestled around the new, landscaped terrace – perfect for al fresco dining, whatever the weather.
YO1 Radio MD, Wayne Chadwick said, “Wow! What a place. We were lucky enough to be invited to one of the practice nights and we were blown away. The food, the atmosphere and the team are all exceptional. There is nothing like this in York and I think it’s going to be a big hit with the local community.”
Local food blogger Ben Thorpe from @yorkonafork said he was seriously impressed with both the portion sizes and the authenticity, “I found the site completely transformed from its previous use, I didn’t pop their often but I struggled to relate the internal spaces in the old layout! My daughter fell in love with the cinema room and popcorn, and we really enjoyed the food. The portion sizes were certainly authentically American! In fact, I still have some leftovers in the fridge. I’m looking forward to popping back for brunch soon.”
So, what can BBQ fans expect?
