Residents and businesses in Northallerton have been urged to be vigilant and report suspicious activity after a man and women allegedly pretended to be deaf and asked people to donate money to a bogus charity called the ‘Association for deaf and disabled people’.
Both the man and the woman, described as “Eastern European”, were seen carrying a clip board with a form on it on Wednesday (1 March 2023) morning. They were asking for various details from the people they approached.
If you see anyone on Northallerton High Street claiming to be a representative of a charity, please ask them for some form of identification before donating.
If they are unable to identify themselves, please report to the police via the North Yorkshire Police website or on 101, option 1.
