Skylights will release their new single, ‘Skies Are Burning’, today (Friday, 20th September 2024), ahead of a landmark show at York Barbican.
The band has announced that their new single, ‘Skies Are Burning,’ will mark the end of their ‘What You Are’ era. The release is timed to coincide with a landmark gig at York Barbican, the largest indoor venue in their home city, on Saturday, 2nd November. Following this highly anticipated performance, the band will take a planned hiatus.
Rob Scarisbrick shared, “The song is a feel-good, euphoric anthem that has been a hit with our live audiences. The lyrics are inspired by daydreaming on a hot summer’s day.”
The York Barbican show is set to be their biggest-selling event to date and is nearly sold out, with fans travelling from across the UK to join in the celebration. The night promises to be deeply emotional for both the band and their dedicated followers.
Skylights have established a unique place in the UK’s independent underground music scene, building a vibrant community around their music. This includes notable figures from sports and media, such as BBC’s Mike Bushell, Josh Warrington, Guy Mowbray, Gaetano Berardi, and Westlife’s Nicky Byrne, among others.
The single features striking artwork by Paul Evans (Painted Papillon Smile) and has been praised by the Yorkshire Evening Post for its “outstanding performances fizzing with energy and conviction” that leave fans eagerly wanting more.
