York Barbican has announced the introduction of York Barbican pool parties, coming April 2023!
Returning to the glory days of the former leisure centre, the new events will see the venue filled with around 40,000 litres of water whilst the greatest bands, comedians, and bingo callers perform on the iconic Barbican stage.
Sam Ryder, General Manager of York Barbican said: ‘Ever since getting my 10 metre swimming badge last year, I’ve been interested in getting the Barbican back to the chlorifiedparadise it was in the 1980’s. Combining this with our programme of excellent events and the best in electrical safety standards, we think the people of York will love this new direction.’
The venue will begin to be filled up on 1st April, with water being diverted from nearby residences for the duration of the day to ensure that it is filled up in time for the Ferocious Dog show that evening. The venue will be emptied weekly, with a bridge being built over Paragon St to be used when it turns into a river every Wednesday.
Jump into the deep end with our latest business venture! We are hoping to make a big splash on the York entertainment scene 💦
