Selby appeal following serious assault on couple at the taxi rank

It happened at the Market Place at around midnight on Saturday 22 March and Sunday 23 March 2025

The incident happened when a local husband and wife were waiting for a taxi in heavy rain after a night out in Selby town.

When the taxi arrived, two men appeared and pushed in front of them.

The husband required hospital treatment after he was allegedly punched and knocked unconscious.

His wife was reportedly assaulted and suffered hand and arm injuries.

The two suspects left in a taxi.

The injured man was wearing a white t-shirt and a stone Carhartt overshirt, blue jeans and trainers with an orange stripe.

The injured woman was wearing a black knee-length dress with a dark blue denim jacket, and a green handbag and knee-length boots. 

Police are currently reviewing CCTV footage and trying to locate the relevant taxi firms for further information.

There is currently no description of the two suspects.
