Emergency services were alerted just before 2.30pm on Tuesday (13 August 2024) after a woman entered the River Ouse in York from Skeldergate Bridge.
Two members of the public entered the water to help bring the woman to safety with assistance of a river cruiser and a smaller vessel. The York Rescue Boat was also in attendance.
The woman was taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment where she was later detained under the Mental Health Act.

Around midday yesterday ( Wednesday 5 November), officers from the Operational Support Unit stopped a Nissan Qashqai on the A64 heading toward York. This followed intelligence suggesting the vehicle may have been involved in drug-related activities.
