North Yorkshire police say the schoolboy was cycling home from school along York Road in Haxby, when a silver car hit him.

It happened at 3.30pm on Thursday (February 6), and the vehicle did not stop at the scene, but a wing mirror was left behind. It is silver and possibly from a Mercedes.

A police spokesperson said: "The boy was thankfully not seriously injured and after a visit to hospital was discharged home.
