A child has been left with minor injuries after an altercation between a man and woman in the centre of a North Yorkshire town.

North Yorkshire Police said a man, with a child, and a woman had a “physical altercation” in Finkle Street, Selby, at 2.45pm yesterday (Sunday, February 9).

“The child sustained minor injuries to his ear as a result of the altercation,” a force spokesperson said.

“A man has been arrested and bailed with conditions following the incident.”

Police urge anyone who saw the incident, including those who may have video footage of it, to get in touch.
