• DRIVERS are being reminded that a major road through York is set to close for five days this week.

  Data from NHS England shows that as of August this year, there were 45,700 outstanding treatments at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust – 1,319 of which had been waiting for a year or more.

  Both players and coaching staff of the Valkyrie will parade the Super League trophy around the City Centre, heading to the Mansion House for a civic reception of Friday, November 15.

  City of York Council say that the Remembrance parade will be held this year on Sunday, November 10 and wend its way through the city centre with a host of road closures as it progresses.

• A drink-and-drug driver has been jailed for nearly four years for causing the death of his friend in a horror crash in the North York Moors.

  Jack Tomlinson, 21, drove his friends and two teenage girls out to a remote spot at Langdale End, where he crashed into a tree after losing control of his red Citroen C3 on a bend, York Crown Court heard.
