A MAN who was a city councillor for 30 years, was Lord Mayor of York and an alderman has died aged 88.

Cllr Michael Bradley, known as Mick, was the Lord Mayor of York from 1997-98 and was a well-known Lib Dem councillor who represented the Heworth Without ward for 30 years.

He served firstly as a Ryedale District councillor, then as a City of York councillor and was also a long term chairman of Heworth Without Parish Council.

He died at York Hospital after a short illness surrounded by his family.

 
 

Glen Bradley, Mick's son, said: "He was not just a great father but also a great friend. 

"We always shared fun and laughter. I will miss having a pint with him and hearing his wonderful singing."

Born and raised in York, Mick had two sisters, Judy and Gill and went to Glen Primary School in Tang Hall, Burnholme Secondary School and studied engineering at York Technical College.
