A new late-night grocery store planned for a York village would add to existing parking problems and create traffic "chaos", objectors claim.

An application from Moorside Developments Ltd for planning permission to demolish Wilberforce House in North Moor Road, Huntington

to allow for a new grocery store with associated parking was submitted to City of York Council on November 15.

The planning documents say the store would open from 7am to 10pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 8pm on Sundays and Bank Holidays.

The planned site will have parking for 10 cars.

As reported in The Press, the site of an unused two-story office building formerly occupied by Wilberforce Trust, was the subject of previous planning applications for residential purposes.

In 2022, a plan for eight homes on the site of the former charity HQ was refused on appeal by a government planning inspector.
