City of York Council has announced the closure of the path from Ouse Bridge to North Street gardens.
A spokesperson said: "Access to the businesses in the area will remain open.
"It will remain closed until it's assessed by a structural engineer and deemed safe to open."

TRIBUTES are being paid to war veteran Joseph Thomas who has died aged 99 and will have a memorial funeral service at York Minster tomorrow (Wednesday, January 22).
