The annual York Residents’ Festival, which is organised by Make It York, offer residents a chance to explore the city with free entry to many of York’s attractions as well as special offers at the city’s businesses and eateries.
Despite some disruption yesterday due to the storm, today saw the people of York take to the streets and make the most of a weekend dedicated to locals exploring their city.
Ebony and Henry, who are both 23 and have lived in York since becoming students, started their Sunday by taking a boat trip with City Cruises.
Ebony said: “We always wanted to do it but today it’s free. I feel like things are different when you live here.
“We did a lot yesterday – we went to loads of museums, because we’ve not been to any of the museums, we don’t know much about the history but have lived here since 2019, which I think is quite bad.
“I feel like now we know why York is York in so many different ways.”
