Seven current and former Metropolitan Police officers will face a gross misconduct hearing next month

- over the accessing of files relating to the case of Sarah Everard.

Ms Everard, 33, was kidnapped, raped and murdered by then-serving Met officer Wayne Couzens as she walked home from a friend’s house in Clapham, south London, in March 2021.

She grew up in York and was a student at Fulford School before moving to London where she worked as a marketing executive.

Five serving officers – Pc Myles McHugh, Pc Clare Tett, detective constable Tyrone Ward, detective sergeant Robert Butters and sergeant Mark Harper – will now face a hearing after an audit was carried out by the force’s Directorate of Professional Standards.
