On Saturday, December 17, the St. Peter's Singers of Leeds will make their first appearance at Selby Abbey and present "To Hear the Angels Sing," a feast of carols and heavenly melody.
St. Peter’s Singers of Leeds will perform ‘To Hear the Angels Sing’, a feast of carols and heavenly music on their debut visit to Selby Abbey on Saturday 17th December. Under the direction of Alex Woodrow, who has recently taken on the mantle following 44 years of service of Dr. Simon Lindley, the chamber choir will be accompanied by Selby Abbey’s own Director of Music and Organist, Oliver Waterer. As a tribute to Dr. Francis Jackson, late of York Minster, with whom the choir had strong links, the concert will include one of his carols during the evening.
St.Peter’s Singers are based at Leeds Minster but have sung widely both locally and nationally and have undertaken European tours. In recent years they have recorded a CD of sacred music in the magnificent and bustling business and commerce centre, the Victoria Quarter in Leeds
The concert begins at 7.30pm (doors open at 7.00pm). Tickets are £10 with under 18s free and are available on the door on the night, or in advance from the website www.stpeters-singers.org.uk
