There has been an assault outside a supermarket in York.

North Yorkshire Police said the incident happened at around 3.30pm on Tuesday, August 27, outside Sainsbury’s in Foss Bank.

"The victim sustained injuries to his head and neck," a force spokesperson said.

"We’re appealing for information about the suspect, who is described as around 70-years-old, large build, short grey hair, and wearing glasses.

"He was believed to have been wearing a blue or turquoise t-shirt and possibly wearing shorts."
