YORK'S hospitals trust is leading the way with ground-breaking ‘camera in a capsule’ technology as part of a £3 million national research project to improve bowel cancer diagnosis.

York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has been awarded the money to lead national research into a device that could improve the clinical pathway for diagnosis of bowel cancer.

Called the ColoCap study, it will evaluate a new bowel imaging technology for patients known as colon capsule endoscopy.
