York RLFC have announced that Canada Ravens Co-Captain, Megan Pakulis is joining the Valkyrie until the end of the 2024 season.

The 27-year-old Canada's Ravens co-captain has earned 10 caps playing for the Canada Ravens from 2017-2022.

Pakulis made her mark in the 2017 Women's Rugby League World Cup in Australia scoring the first international try for the team against the Kiwi Ferns.

The Ravens went onto place fourth in the world that year.

Megan returned to the World Cup with the Ravens in England in 2021 (held during the 2022 season due to Covid) playing 80 minutes against England, Papa New Guinea and Brazil.

Pakulis scored tries for her team against the latter two teams and was named in the team of the tournament.

In March this year, Pakulis was selected alongside USA international MarCaya Bailous to play at the Harvey Norman Women's National Championships on the Gold Coast Australia after having won the NRL Combine in Las Vegas.

After touring the major NRLW clubs, Pakulis debuted for the First Nation Gems against Victoria.

On joining the team, Pakulis said:

"...Just looking at the team and their previous successes coming up from where they started to where they are now is something that is super inspiring.

"Getting to watch them throughout the season and chatting with Lindsay throughout the winter pre-season its really motivated me to make this happen.

"She (Lindsay) has been really good with communication, I'm always in the know of whats going on and she's done a really good job of making this transition easy for me..."

"...I'm looking forward to getting out there and being part of the squad."

When describing her strengths, Pakulis said:

"I like to make the big carries and try to push people back on defence so with that I just want to lead with work ethic...I just hope that I can bring a little bit of my style into it while still adapting to what the team needs and what their style of play is."

York RLFC Chairman Clint GoodChild added:

“We are proud to bring such an exciting international talent to the Club.

"Megan has been on our radar since the World Cup. She has already shown her willingness to work hard and I have no doubt her professional development will continue under the leadership of Lindsay and her coaching team”
