York City FC has confirmed that Michael Morton will lead the team into our Isuzu FA Trophy tie with Southend United this Saturday.

The UEFA ‘A’ licensed coach held key roles in the academies of Leeds United and Manchester City before joining David Webb’s staff at York City.

Morton also previously worked as Head of I2I Academy, during a spell in which the York-based academy produced nine professional footballers, and had his first experience of senior first-team management at Tadcaster Albion.

Upon joining the Minstermen, he was thrust into the deep end, having to lead from the dugout against Woking and Blyth Spartans after David Webb was taken ill.

Morton will be assisted by Scott Barrow, Paddy McLaughlin, and goalkeeping coach Joe Stead.
