MYLES HARRISON SIGNS NEW DEAL FOR 2024

Craig Hawkhead

Myles Harrison will retain with York Knights for the 2024 season.

Harrison progressed through the ranks at Heworth ARLFC before signing a professional deal with York in 2021.

The 20-year-old back made his Knights debut in the Betfred Challenge Cup against Wigan Warriors that year, one of three contests featured in during his maiden season, with a further nine appearances earned in 2022.

Harrison's career progression continued last season, scoring 10 tries and 18 goals in 24 appearances as the Knights reached the Betfred Championship Play-Offs in successive seasons for the first time since the Club's reformation.

On extending his stay with the Knights, Harrison said: "I'm over the moon to be staying at the Club and to sign a new deal for 2024 was a no-brainer for me!

"It's been an unbelievable experience here at York and I've loved every minute of it.

"Last season was another good step for my career and meant that I gained experience playing at centre and on the wing, two positions that I've never played in before.

"It was definitely a learning curve but it's a process that I'm glad I've been on.

"I'm really excited about 2024. Given the back-end to the season that we enjoyed last year, there's no reason why we can't kick on and produce a full year like that.

"For myself, I want to have another good year and earn another contract because this is the place that I want to be!"

Head Coach Andrew Henderson added: “I’m really pleased to be able to retain Myles as a York Knights player for the 2024 season.

“Myles is another one of our young local products that has been through our system for a couple of years and I’m delighted that he feels that York is the Club where he can continue his development.

“Myles is a player that will add value to us as a utility outside back, being capable of playing at full-back, centre or wing, and I’m looking forward to seeing him develop in all three roles.

“I’ve really enjoyed working with Myles so far and seeing him develop as a player and I’m looking forward to witnessing the continuation of that progression in 2024.”

Harrison becomes the 18th confirmed squad member for the 2024 season alongside Jesse Dee, AJ Towse, Ata Hingano, Conor Fitzsimmons, Jordan Thompson, James Cunningham, Ronan Michael, Jack Teanby, Ukuma Ta'ai, Pauli Pauli, Harry Price, Brenden Santi, Levi Edwards, Oli Field, Will Dagger and Jimmy Keinhorst.
