After initially moving to York mid-way through the 2023 season, Santi has become a favourite with supporters, with his strong carries and tough tackling.

The Australian born Italian international moved to York after two and a half seasons at Keighley Cougars.

Before that, Santi represented Newcastle Thunder and Toulouse Olympique, featuring 19 times for the French club in 2019 as they finished second in the Betfred Championship.

He also played 11 times in the NRL, having played at West Tigers between 2014 and 2015.

Among his 15 Italian caps are three earned during the World Cup, when he featured in the pool games against Scotland, Australia and Fiji.

On Santi remaining at York, head coach, Mark Applegarth said: "I'm really happy Brenden’s agreed to go again with York Knights.

"I thought he was an excellent member of the pack last year. He offered not only a high level of rugby but some great leadership and he’ll be another important voice for some of the younger members of the squad.

"I love everything he’s about. He plays very tough and puts his body on the line every time he crosses that whitewash so I’m delighted he’s on board for 2025."
