York City FC are announced the signing of Watford FC attacker Shaqai Forde on loan until the end of the season.
The 18-year-old forward will be eligible for selection when the Minstermen play Gateshead the following Monday after becoming David Webb's first hire as York City manager.
Forde impressed for the Hornets' U18s and U23s during the 2021–2022 season, and he made his senior debut in an FA Cup match against Leicester City. Forde then signed his first professional contract with the club before the start of this season.
As a result of his breakthrough, the then-Premier League club named him Young Player of the Season. His outstanding youth exploits had given him the chance to train and travel with the first squad.
York City manager David Webb said: “Shaq is a highly rated prospect at Watford FC.
“As well as being a standout performer at U23 level, another part of the attraction to us is that he trains regularly with the first team and has had exposure to senior football.
“He will be a great addition to our squad and adds more quality to our front line. He can play as an 11, 7, 10, or a 9 which gives us different options in attack.”
