York City Ladies returned to action yesterday after over a month out, and were on the losing end of a thrilling 4-3 result against Merseyrail.

The Minsterbelles’ struggles continued against the Liverpudlian side, who picked up only their second win of the season on Sunday.

The ninth placed City will have an even harder challenge next weekend, as they prepare to host Middlesborough.
