York RLFC Celebrates Club Legend Gary Price as Latest Hall of Fame Inductee

Photo: York RLFC

Price (heritage number #1161) played 161 times for York from 1979 to 1986, scoring 40 tries, two goals and one drop goal.

The second row forward was part of the York side which won the Second Division title in 1980/81 and earned promotion to the Championship in 1984/85.

He was also part of the team which reached the Challenge Cup semi-final in 1984, where York missed out on a place in their first Wembley appearance since 1931 with a narrow loss to Wigan at Elland Road.

He joins Darren Callaghan as a new York RLFC Hall of Fame member for 2025.

Both have been chosen by a committee consisting of Knights Supporters Society members, former players and journalists.

The pair will be officially inducted on Friday 17th January at Merchant Adventurers' Hall at York RLFC's 2025 Hall of Fame Dinner.

The York RLFC Hall of Fame was launched in 2013 by the Knights Supporters Society (KSS) to celebrate the storied history of rugby league in York following the Club’s formation in 1868.

Currently there are 26 players inducted in the York RLFC Hall of Fame, including legends such as Geoff Pryce, Graham Steadman and Willie Hargreaves.

Hall of Fame is a York RLFC event with the support of the Knights Supporters Society, and we work in partnership to continue our journey of celebrating the club’s heritage and history.
