York RUFC have announced that Graham Steadman has been appointed as our new Head Coach.
Graham is a highly experienced and well respected figure in the rugby world at both League and Union, having played and coached at all levels of the game through to and including International duty. Graham brings with him a considerable amount of experience having worked with some of the top coaches and has a profound understanding of the game. His knowledge and approach to coaching will undoubtedly have a positive impact as we look forward to the 2024/25 season with our eyes firmly set on gaining promotion to the National two league that we so narrowly missed out on last season.
York President, Mickey Negri says we are delighted to attract and appoint a coach of such a high calibre to York RUFC for our next stage of growth. Whilst Graham will clearly have a focus on the First XV he has highlighted that he is keen to develop the whole club working with all teams and coaches. We already have a summer youth training camp that will be run by Graham that is sold out so it is a fantastic start.
Graham added that York RUFC had caught his eye and he has visited the club a number of times. He really liked the ambition and potential that he can see. He has spent a number of years in Rugby League which was hugely beneficial in extending his knowledge of skills and techniques and he is excited at being able to get back into Rugby Union with York RUFC.
Everyone at York warmly welcomes Graham and we are looking forward to an exciting season ahead.
If you are interested in playing Rugby Union you will find York RUFC a very welcoming club with teams at all levels of abilities. Visit the club website at www.yorkrufc.co.uk for more information.
