“Further to my recent updates in respect of the laptop appeal. I pleased to inform you that this has been very successful but will come to an end on 31st January 2021. Haxby and Wigginton Primary Schools have already received 14 new laptops 3 of which were donated by local residents, the balance from funds raised through local residents and organisations kind financial donations, which in the two weeks that the appeal has been running, totals over £ 4000.00.

From the equipment that has been donated we will be giving 17 items to the schools all factory reset and or upgrade as necessary, subject to Haxby & Wigginton Ward Committee support. Laptops that were damaged, too old, contained an outdated operating system or processors are being made safe by removal of the hard drives, ready for safe disposal.

So far, 11 residents donated funds or purchased a laptop and financial support has been given by the following local organisation;

Wigginton Recreation Hall, The Old School, Aroma Community Fund, WIgginton and Haxby WI and The Wednesday Club. I am so grateful, to each and everybody, for their magnificent kindness. The children are already beginning to benefit from this generosity. Regretfully though such schemes cannot run for ever and hence its completion on 31st  when around 40 items of equipment will be ready for in in our primary schools-thanks to you.

My thanks also go to Graham Carver and U3A, Cllr A Hollyer, Ed and Alice Wilson and Richard Denton for helping the appeal along in many different ways.

If anybody wishes to make a financial donation, I am very happy to receive such. If cheques, please make them payable to The Old School Management Committee. For transfers, please contact me for details.

On behalf of the primary schools and children, thank you most sincerely for your support.”
