Join online library chat with best-selling thriller writer

Author Simon Scarrow.

Fans of historical fiction or wartime thrillers will be able to ask best-selling author Simon Scarrow about his books and writing life in an online conversation hosted by North Yorkshire libraries service.

The author will join North Yorkshire libraries in conversation on Monday, March 6, at 2pm. He will discuss his latest novel, Dead of Night, and his writing career with a member of library staff. Audience members will be able to ask questions via on online chat.

Mr Scarrow is a Sunday Times number one bestselling author with 12 million copies of his books sold worldwide. Best known for his historical fiction series, Eagles of the Empire, he also writes thrillers set during the Second World War. His first Berlin-based novel, Black Out, was a Richard and Judy Book Club pick in 2021.

His latest book, Dead of Night, is published this month (February). It is set in Berlin in 1941 and follows Criminal Inspector Horst Schenke as he uncovers the secrets behind the death of an apparently obscure doctor.

North Yorkshire County Council’s executive member for libraries, Cllr Greg White, said: “This event is a rare chance to hear a best-selling author discuss his life and work and to ask your own questions. It is an example of the breadth of opportunities our library service offers. People across the county have the chance to join online live, or to watch at leisure later.”

Free tickets for the live talk can be booked on Eventbrite (https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/simon-scarrow-in-coversation-tickets-537296858367). Search for “Simon Scarrow in Conversation”.

After the event, the talk will be available to view on the North Yorkshire Libraries YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCu6xA3HMKL8YokuFneDjm8Q).
