Man arrested after York robbery

A robbery suspect has been arrested after cash was stolen from a store in York.

On the evening of Saturday 7 September 2024, a man entered Costcutter in Woodthorpe, threatened staff, and stole cash from the till.

The police launched an immediate investigation, including issuing a CCTV still and appealing for information about the incident.

Enquiries led officers to arrest a 37-year-old York man on suspicion of robbery. He was taken into custody, and released on police bail while the investigation continues.

The police are extremely grateful to members of the public who have supported our enquiries by providing information. The police also continue to appeal for anyone who was in the area, or may have captured relevant CCTV, video doorbell or dashcam footage, to get in touch.
