Brown joined the Knights as a 23-year-old from Bradford Bulls ahead of the 2022 season and has currently scored 44 tries for the Knights in almost three seasons.

Most recently, two of those tries came from a thrilling contest against Doncaster RLFC in Round 15 of the Betfred Championship 2024 in which the Knights left Doncaster unable to score (27-0).

Brown currently sits joint fourth with Bradford Bulls' Zac Fulton in the 2024 Championship's Top Try Scorer table with 12 tries.

At the end of the season in 2023, Brown was awarded the 'Knights Try of The Year' for his astounding try in the Betfred Championship play-off eliminator against Batley Bulldogs.

In 2022, Brown scored 17 tries to secure the Knights position in the play off semi-finals before falling to defeat to Leigh Leopards.

On re-signing Brown said:

"This is my third year and it feels like home for me.

"I've really enjoyed my time here so to extend again...I was really happy that we got to that decision of two years."

In his time at the club Brown has made 81 appearance with 81 starts scoring 44 tries and one goal. He reflects on his journey so far with the Club.

"I think I'd of been really impressed closing in on 100 appearances and I think that's a proud achievement for myself at one Club.

"23-year-old me was very different to where I am now at 25...

"I think a young Browny would be really happy."

Brown continued, reflecting on the current 2024 season;

"It's been challenging. We didn't start the year how we wanted to for different reasons; injuries, suspensions etc...

"We just weren't playing well - it is as simple as that.

"We've grown into the season and we've got a bit of a rhythm now, we've got a bit of continuity in our spine which has allowed other players to show the best of them and I think that's brought the best out of everybody else.

"We want to be pushing for them playoffs come the end of the year.

"We know we've given ourselves quite a bit to do but we are really confident that if we keep knocking on the door of those teams above us that we can get there because we have got the squad to do that.

"We want to compete at the end of the season in those playoffs."

Brown has been a York RLFC fan favourite across the years and shared his delight in their support:

"They've been great, we didn't give them much to shout about at the start of the season but they still followed us, home and away, and for a player that's all we can ask...

"They bring us home and hopefully towards the back end of the year we'll give them brighter days and something more to cheer about."

Brown joined York alongside Chairman Goodchild. Brown reflects on the growth he's seen and his time with the Chairman:

"When I first came to the Club it was Clint's first year as well and so to have been at the Club for the same amount of time and to see how he's grown the club on a commercial scale is really impressive."

"I think the sponsors that we've got on board - they're great, they give us so much.

"A lot more than what people probably don't see.

"My sponsor (Purple Chilli Events Catering) has been my sponsor for the last two years - a big shoutout to him.

"Hopefully moving forward we can get more sponsors onboard and we can get to a point where we're very comfortable with our sponsorships that we've got and get the club as big as we can."

The York RLFC Chairman added;

"Joe Brown has become a valued leader in the squad and optimises what it is to be a York player.

"We are delighted to have Joe a part of our plans moving forward."
