A display of ‘mechanical veterans’ – military vehicles preserved by owners and enthusiasts - is underway in the centre of York today (April 13).
The Yorkshire branch of the Military Vehicle Trust (MVT) is hosting one of the largest one-day gatherings of military vehicles in the UK in the Eye of York from 10.30am to 4pm.

The Unison union is calling on the government to provide funding for higher education after hundreds of jobs were axed at the University of York.
It comes as universities across Yorkshire and the Humber face a combined budget shortfall of more than £150 million, according to the union.

More than 500 arson offences were recorded in North Yorkshire in the past three years - with only six per cent resulting in a suspect being charged.
Data compiled by claims company Legal Expert found that York was the county's hotspot for arson attacks, with nearly 50 offences recorded each year since 2022 - a total of 142 arsons.
